As we head back into the world of Maxton Hall, Ruby and James are kaput following his drunken kiss with another girl following the sudden death of his mother. His friends are worried as he leans more on alcohol than them. But when the air clears and James realizes it is Ruby he wants by his side, he will have to work harder than ever for a chance to win her back. And his sister Lydia, fresh off a breakup from a forbidden affair of her own, struggles to hide a new secret.
This continues to be a fun, juicy series chock-full of all the drama you could need and more. The ending of book one took me by surprise, and I was anxious to see what Save You would bring to not one, but two love stories that were a mess. While Save Me, focused primarily on Ruby and James, the romance at the core of the story, Save You brings in an additional two perspectives—James’s sister Lydia who is hiding her pregnancy, and Ruby’s sister Ember. While I absolutely loved the peek into Lydia’s head, especially as it pertains to her forbidden love story, I have to admit that Ember’s POV wasn’t quite as gripping as the others.
All in all, this was a solid second installment, though admittedly not as fun for me as the first, but with another big cliffhanger to keep us wanting more. These are very easy books to get lost in and offer both pure entertainment and a bit of escapism that is much needed these days. I eagerly await the final installment to the series and the conclusion to the Ruby/James saga.
🎧 I think I had a bit of a love hate relationship with the audiobook of Save You. While the narration, especially with the beautiful British accents, made the fact that this is a translated work feel less obvious and choppy, the narrators made the characters feel quite a bit older than they actually are.
